This is the KIDS ACCESS RUN, you will be asked to provide the front seat to a child and or possibly a Chaperone. Please be advised that many of these children have various disabilities, but all of them appreciate your help in providing motorized access to all!

The Warner Valley Dinosaur Tracks are some of the most impressive in the area! There are at least three different types of dinosaur tracks evident in the rock strata. According to the archeologists who have studied the area, there are over 400 fossilized tracks! Not only is this a fun and easy trip with a easy and short hike with great historical value, but the area is shockingly beautiful! On your drive you will pass flaming red mountains and colorful clay filled rolling hills. The tracks are just a short walk from the parking lot! The trail heads up a small rise and then drops into a dry wash. The dry wash leads down to the dino tracks! Go walk with the Dinosaurs!

Scenery

Starting at the base of Hurricane Cliffs, the views on this trail just keep getting better!  There are great views of Warner Valley in the foreground and the Arizona Strip in the background along the East Rim.  As you reach the West Rim, there are also views of St. George city and the Red Cliffs area, with the Pine Valley Mountains west of the trail.

Resurrection more

This extremely fun trail features a series of small slicklock waterfalls with plenty of challenges.  You'll find cattle bones, caves, and a tombstone that shows this trail is rich in history, even though it is new to the mountain. The trail has three sections. and all three sections has been completed by a Jeep with no lockers and 35" tires. We recommend that you have at least one locker.

The first section is a sandy wash that leads to several small ledges and climbs that make the trail pretty fun as you climb your way in elevation. About half way in the first section is Skully's Pinch, an obstacle that requires drivers to stay as far left as possible because the Pinch comes from a rock that sticks out, wanting to lay claim to your rear fender panel. Out of the 40 vehicles we have taken through this trail, easy spotting has allowed 100% safe passage without body damage. There are several spots that you can increase your level of difficulty but the original trail guides vehicles around those spots.

The second section comes after you get out of the Canyon and over to Jacob's Draw. It has a series of roughly 6-8 obstacles that are pretty fun as you climb even higher in elevation. All obstacles are kept in mind for vehicles with only 1 locker, even though we have driven it many times without any lockers.

The third section takes you across the dunes to a bluff on Sand Mountain which is situated between two dunes. This bluff contains a tombstone for whom we will never know. Additionally, the bluff has a cave that has been cut into it, fun for the kids to explore. The cave goes about 25 feet horizontally into the bluff. It is a dead end and doesn't contain any other cavities.

Scenery

Nice high desert scenery, with some views of Sand Hollow Reservoir and Zion Park.

Surface

Sandy Roads for the first part, then steep slickrock waterfalls, then rocky gulches with steep waterfalls and ledges.

Trail Details

There are a couple of 7- and 8-rated optional obstacles on this trail.  Body and drivetrain damage is likely for these harder obstacles.  We suggest each vehicle come prepared with at least 1 locker and 35" tires although the trail can be completed with 33" tires.

West Rim more

West Rim is one of the most popular trails offered for Trail Hero.  What makes it so popular is that if you are with a group that has a wide range of vehicles, from stock to wild, you will be able to tour together and find something that will challenge you.  There are many places where you can drive your stock rig up right next to the built rigs and watch them struggle to make the hardline.  You all will be amazed at the incredible 360-degree views of Sand Hollow, Zion Park, Pine Valley Reservoir, St. George, The Arizona Strip, and Hurricane Cliffs.

The trail stages at the Hurricane Water Tanks, then heads over to the lower sand dunes by the golf course.  After going down and up the dunes, the course continues to the first slickrock obstacle, The Steps.  As the name implies, this is a set of ledges that will test your suspension and driving ability.  Like many of the obstacles on West Rim, there are easy, hard, and very hard lines.  Lunch is usually held at, appropriately enough, the "Lunch Room," an alcove surrounded on 3 sides by tall rock formations, and a nice viewpoint of Warner Valley and the Arizona Strip to the south.  From the Lunch Room, there is plenty of 4-wheeling left.  The "Rock Garden" is at the end of West Rim Trail.  From there, the return route is down Hurricane Sand Dunes.

This popular trail tends to fill up fast.

Scenery

Incredible 360-degree vistas of Sand Hollow Reservoir, Zion Park, Pine Valley Mountains, Warner Valley, the Arizona Strip, Hurricane Cliffs, and Hurricane Sand dunes.

Surface

Sand dunes and sandy roads, then slickrock ledges and two-track rocky roads.

Trail Details

There a many obstacles on this 4-rated trail, with twice as many options just off the trail.  The trail starts with "The Steps" (slickrock ledges) and then to "The Funnel" (a rounded 30" step that requires stacking rocks for stock vehicles).  From there, the climb is up a couple more steps to the "West Rim Boulevard", which is a rocky road the feeds several other trails.  After turning down onto West Rim, the trail travels along the rim on an alternately rocky and sandy road that is on the rim.  You leave the rim to travel between a set of evenly spaced pinnacles, called the "Toll Booths" that tower above the trail and have a ledge that can challenge stock rigs.

A pullout called the "Scenic Loop" has beautiful views of St. George and the airport, and can be a challenge for stock rigs on it's entry steps and a short climb out on dirt.  From there, the challenges are various, winding through a rock-walled labyrinth until you reach the Lunch Room.  Great views from here, surrounded by rock walls.

There are several challenging obstacles after the Lunch Room, starting with "The Squeeze" that can leave a rock rash on wide vehicles.  The trail ends in an area called the "Rock Garden."  This area has many various obstacles surrounding an open natural courtyard, allowing spectators to walk from one show to the next.  After leaving the trail, the way back is down the Hurricane Sand Dunes, affording a chance to increase the pace and blow out the dust.

Plan B...FG more

Plan B is located at the far south edge of the Hurricane Sand Dunes.  The trip from the Hurricane Water Tanks is bumpy until you reach the upper dunes, and then you get to try out your dunes capability.  Once you reach the trail, you start right off with an off-camber ditch that leans you close to a rock ledge on your right.  Then, you get to climb a max steep hill, then drop down to a max steep drop and a max off-camber turn with an imposing rock on the right.  From there, the trail delivers continuous challenges and incredible scenery.  After the trail, you can drive down the dunes and enjoy the views of Sand Hollow Reservoir with Zion Park in the background.

Scenery

Plan B takes you far out past the sand dunes of Sand Mountain.  It is a very scenic drive through the sand dunes or across the top of West Rim and down to the edge of the dunes.  Plan B meanders its way through a few challenging hills and washes, then follows the edge of Sand Mountain with big views of the Arizona Strip and Warner Valley below.

Surface

Sand dunes to the entrance, then slickrock with ledges, cracks, steep walls, and off-camber shelf roads.  Return is via the sand dunes.

Trail Details

After the trip up the dunes to the entry, the steep climb and drop-in sometimes catch drivers off guard.  There are two off-camber turns that most drivers find unnerving.  The "Tilt a Whirl" is an off-camber narrow shelf that is poised above a thirty-foot drop-off.  There are some optional obstacles to give the trail a little more of a punch. A highlight of this scenic but challenging drive is the arch found along the cliff-side.  This is the perfect spot for lunch before turning back.  And of course, we have to find some more obstacles on our way. Rigs should have a lift and a minimum of 31" tires and a rear locker would be a plus.  If you choose to do some of the optional obstacles, then 33" tires would be best, with both front and rear lockers.

Double Sammy more

Non-stop rapid fire challenges with some extra-hard options, Double Sammy packs about as many difficult challenges as possible into a relatively short distance.  It also has fantastic scenery.  The views from the trail are beautiful, but the drivers are honed in on the trail 10 feet ahead of them anytime they are in motion.  Lots of off camber and max steep climbs and descents.

Scenery

Fantastic views of Sand Hollow Reservoir just to the north, with Zion Park in the distance.  Hurricane Cliffs to the east, and Pine Valley Mountains to the West.

Surface

Sand Dunes up to the start of the slickrock (sandstone) cracks and ledges.  After a 70-foot max steep chute option, return is down the dunes back to Sand Hollow State Park.

Trail Details

Double Sammy will begin at Sand Hollow State Park and make its way up some deep sand dunes until it turns left into the nearby rocky sandstone. The first obstacle consists of a vertical wall and a consecutive series of steps which are by passable. The trail will meander its way through the sandstone cliffs with a beautiful and picturesque view of Sand Hollow Reservoir. There is an abundance of descents and accents. Midway through the trail, there is an optional obstacle called the Traverse as well as a pretty impressive and tricky 70-foot obstacle called The Chute that is also by-passable. Risky Biz more

This trail was developed by some of our Arizona friends and winds its way through a part of Sand Mountain that most people have not explored.  It is a combination of sandy washes, slickrock obstacles and a couple of technical challenges.  Be prepared for some vehicle damage if you don't pay attention to your spotter!

Scenery

A new part of Sand Mountain nestled between John's Trail and Milt's Mile.  Many of your views will be straight up looking at the sky!

Biz has tons of beautiful formations of rock that shard from beneath the brush and the sand. The sloping ledges that take you up the mountain provide traction as well as a variety of rock scenery and killer poser spots for photography. Due to the close proximity of the Sand Hollow Sate Park, it is easy to capture a stunning view of the reservoir as well as the distant mountain landscape of Zion National Park in the background.

Surface

Mostly Rock; smooth, jagged, slanted and stepped, all protruding from patches of sand at the base.  Few patches of mild dirt road between sections.

Trail Details

Several sections climb off-camber sandstone ledges requiring precise tire placement and a good spotter due to the blind drop-offs on the passenger side you’ll be leaning away from. Arguably, the toughest obstacle of the trail is “The Sand Trap” a two-stepped, steep climb that will get you spinning in the sand if you aren’t lined up just right to get traction on the patches of rock ascending to safety. There are multiple wedge obstacles that will put you on your side if you’re not careful.  Body damage is possible, watch out for the “Can Opener” which can suck your drivers rear tire into a sharp ledge on the rock and rip a fender flare right off if you don’t take it wide enough.  One final climb up “Jacob’s Ladder” takes you to the summit of the trail, and is the last real challenge before you drop down and over to Water Tank Road.

The Maze more

The Maze has quickly become known as one of St. George’s ‘must do’ trails for those who enjoy a more technical and hard-core challenge. If you aren’t bothered by steep ascents and descents, extremely off-camber situations, and exposure to 1,200-foot cliff edges, then this trail is for you!

The obstacles come one after another with consistent difficulty.  As you approach the first obstacle (The Drop), you may glance down to your right and between two rocks to notice that you are within a few feet of a cliff that is 1,000 feet above the valley below.  This is a trail to delight those who can appreciate adrenaline at 1 mile an hour.

Scenery

For short distances between obstacles, drivers can pause to see fantastic views of Warner Valley almost straight down from the trails edge.  In the distance you can see the Arizona Strip.  The Strip is the approximately 50-mile strip of land between the Utah/Arizona border and the Grand Canyon.  There are several mountain peaks in the Strip.

Surface

For Trail Hero, the Maze is accessed from Sand Hollow State Park, going through the tunnel to access Hurricane Sand Dunes.  After driving up near the top of the Dunes, there is a short descent to the trail poised on a cliff above Warner Valley.  The majority of the trail is slickrock, with some sandy and rocky areas between the slickrock obstacles. The return trip is down the dunes to Sand Hollow State Park

Trail Details

The first obstacle, known as ‘The Drop’, is just the beginning of an unrelenting series of white-knuckling and adrenaline pumping challenges, the hardest of which is the climb of an intimidating double-fall, perched above a towering 1,200-foot drop at You Gotta Be Nuts. And if that is not enough for you, there is the opportunity to attempt ‘The Soup Bowl’ near the end.

The Maze can be accessed from either Washington Dam staging area via West Rim Scenic route or alternatively from Sand Hollow Reservoir through the sand dunes. Rigs should be equipped with two lockers and a minimum of 33-inch tires as well as a winch. Short wheel-base rigs are not recommended for this trail. Expect possible body damage and/or mechanical breakdown.

Arrowhead Canyon more

This is buggy territory!  The trail earns its rating with climbs up to the top of deep slot canyons with tires spanning both walls.  One slip here, and you will find yourself wedged with the cage on one wall and the tires against the other.  After a short drive on the sandy road along the Sand Hollow State Park, the wash to the south takes you up to bottom of the canyon, where the fun begins. The trail really doesn't go up the bottom of the canyon that much, it goes OVER the bottom of the canyon as you climb up above on the sidewalls.

Scenery

Beautiful views of Sand Hollow, Zion Park, Hurricane Cliffs, and Pine Valley Mountains.  Lots of incredible scenery within inches of your buggy!

Surface

Sandstone (slickrock) slot canyons and waterfalls.  Huge ledges and some sandy sections.  Lots of max off-camber slickrock.

TNT Extended more

This trail teeters on the edge of being buggy territory.  Very skilled drivers in heavily modified full-size rigs have successfully negotiated it, but few of them escaped body damage.   Many rigs have had big fails here.   While not as high rated as Arrowhead Canyon in the next canyon to the east, it still has plenty of adrenaline factor for buggies and heavily modified full body rigs.

Scenery

Pause to take in views of Sand Hollow Reservoir immediately to the south with Zion Park in the distance.  The usually snow-capped Pine Valley Mountains are to the west, and Hurricane Cliffs are to the east.

Surface

Slickrock canyons, wedges, and ledges.  Some sand hills.

Trail Details

TNT begins in a sandy wash by Sand Hollow Reservoir. Lower chain follows this wash.  It is full of obstacles that can get ugly real fast if you are not careful.  The wash narrows into a tricky series of falls and around a bend that requires maneuvering your rig by a massive boulder.  Then it opens up and you begin making your way out of the wash.  TNT presents just as many intimidating challenges to both the rig and its driver.  You will almost always receive some "love bites" from the rocks.  Rigs need to be, at a minimum, locked front and rear with at least 35" tires. Chain Reaction has an extremely high possibility of body damage and/or mechanical breakdown.

Triple 7s Movie Run more

Hang out with Rockford Fosgate and Raceline wheels as they play Indiana Jones on the rocks at this unique drive through movie experience hosted by EctoVentures' Randall Davis. You'll run the Triple 7's trail with some of the best guides that Trail Hero has to offer, and when you are done with the trail you will be sliding right into where the movie is being played.

Triple7's is one of the newer trails at Sand Hollow. Although this trail is a little shorter than some of the other trails at Sand Hollow, it is packed with 7 rated obstacles. Generally most trails give drivers a little breathing room between obstacles, however Triple 7's keeps the drivers on their toes with not much easy terrain between each obstacle. This would be considered one of the more difficult trails rated as a 7, however, an Full Body FJ-40 and full body Land Cruiser FJ-80 completed the trail with no breaks or body damage.

The trail riders will enter the park entrance and go through the tunnel, once through the tunnel, turn hard left and follow the signs to the Trail Head. To access the Trail Head, drives will head along the highway fence line until they get the first major wash on the right. The first two obstacles are 100 feet into the trail.

This new trail is trending to fill up fast, so be sure to sign up soon.

Scenery

Scenery is somewhat limited until you reach the summit of the trail at which point you have a great view of the Lake at Sand Hollow and portions of Zion National Park.

Surface

Sand dunes and sandy roads, then slickrock ledges and cracks, then and two-track rocky roads.

Trail Details

There a many obstacles on this 7-rated trail, with little to no room in between for relaxing. There are bypasses for several of the obstacles for those looking for a break.  The trail starts with "Cam Country" (a series of slickrock ledges and rolling rocks) and then to "The Dipper" (a Crack that can swallow up a vehicle, on the edge of a cliff ).  From there, participants will drive up the narrow slick rock fin with cliffs on each side to the "Stairway" which sits at the summit of the trail. This is generally a good stopping point for lunch as you can also watch other vehicles on trails near by.  Shortly after the summit, drivers will drop into a small sandstone valley and make the climb out the other side. A series of twisty gullies and ledges called "The Gauntlet" finish the difficult sections of the trail. From there drivers will enjoy the view as they drop a few ledges back down towards the lake.

This is a new trail for 2022 and has drummed up quite and stir within the hardcore jeeping community. This extremely fun trail features a series of steep slicklock waterfalls with plenty of challenges.  The trail is known for being on the extreme side.

Most of the trail is newly developed so obstacles don't quite have names yet, however, it has been run by many groups of people all saying the same thing... "If you are not careful, you WILL end up with Body Damage". Please be prepared for a tough trail. This challenging trail is a lot of fun.  Be careful, and take the bypasses when you are not confident about an obstacle.

As a first year trail, we are limiting the number of vehicles to a STRICT 20 per tour.

Milt’s Mile Lite

Most of Milt’s Mile Light Trail follows along the edge of Milt’s Mile Trail. Several sections are part of the original Milt’s Mile, and a couple of sections are shared with the current Milt’s Mile. This trail affords spectacular views of Pine Valley Mountain, Sand Hollow Reservoir, Hurricane Cliffs, and Zion Park. During the event, there is a great spot to watch the “entertainment” when the 6-rated Milt’s Mile vehicles negotiate a tough section in the canyon below. A couple of intimidating sections at the beginning, earn a 4 rating. With good spotting on a few obstacles, stock high clearance 4x4 vehicles with competent drivers can successfully negotiate this trail. Much of the trail is easy slickrock and some sand.

Scenery

Beautiful views of the Sand Hollow Reservoir immediately to the north, with Zion Park in the distance.  Pine Valley Mountains are a few miles to the west.  Hurricane Mesa is to the East, with the rock formations of lower Sand Mountain nestled in the sand dunes immediately to the west.

Surface

Slickrock (sandstone) with several sections of two-track and some sand dunes at the end.

Trail Details

Milt’s Mile Light Trail begins at the Hurricane Water Tanks staging area. The access route follows along the north boundary fence on a two-track sand trail for 3/4 mile, turning south into a sandy wash, and up to a slickrock bowl where the fun begins. A couple of slickrock climbs provide a good warm up and an opportunity to see what stock-clearance vehicles are capable of doing. The bowl looks pretty tough, but careful driving and good spotting will award drivers with the feeling of conquering it. From here, the trail will go up a ledgy road, giving drivers a chance to check their clearance in a couple of spots. An overlook stop near the top of this section, is where you can watch the show as the 6-rated Milt’s Mile vehicles negotiate tough obstacles in the canyon below. The next section drops down a couple of ledges into a small canyon, and then up a bypass around “The Crack” obstacle on Milt’s Mile. The route continues up a wide section of slickrock, then crosses over a dry wash. A short trip along the base of some nice rock formations, including a large hoodoo, and you are out of the canyon. Be sure to stop at this point and enjoy the views looking back. From here, cross over a broken fence line, and head west 3/4 mile, then north to a cattle-guard crossing. Follow the sandy road north 1 1/4 miles to arrive at the Hurricane Water Tanks staging area.
